The best comparison to this whole mess I can think of is Ghostbusters 2016, for years/decades Ghostbusters fans waited patiently for the hyped/teased third film, however in the end they were instead given a cash grab female exploitation movie that shat all over the originals.
It's because of how out of touch with their customers Blizzard ave proven they are, committing time/effort to a product nobody wanted and then acting like it's their customers fault for being unhappy because they don't live in the same bubble the devs do. It's easy to understand why players are pissed, not just because of the duping, and not even because of not getting any of the things they were lead to expect.
Come the day they announce a Diablo themed reskin of a mobile game.Blizzard issued a statement that it wasn't going to be D4 so this left a D3 expansion or D1/2 remasters.Players then (rightly) assumed that this meant either D4, a D3 expansion or D1/2 remasters.Blizzard drummed up a big amount of Diablo hype for Blizzcon to sell tickets.If you actually think people are "acting like a bunch of spoiled brats" because they are irate about this then you really need to either Google the meaning of spoiled or educate yourself about the situation.
